The salt clogging the filter air line can be conveniently cleared of the accumulated salt by running a thin wire down the rubber or plastic filter air line in a to and fro pattern that would result in gently breaking up of the salt or if you find this cumbersome you can also do it the other way. Just detach the filter air line assembly from the under gravel filter and put the units in warm water this would result in dissolution of the salt deposits. After the salt deposits have dissolved just rinse the units with clean water and the filter air line is taken care of.

While examining other things you should also pay attention to the outside filters to spot signs of reduced water flows that may occur during daily maintenance. Debris and other particles can curl up in filter hoses and also clog the filters. If you find the filters clogged you should clean them immediately. Heater that is an important unit also requires cleaning and it should be checked on daily basis to make sure that it is working properly. The heater keeps the water temperature within the specified range a little fluctuation is alright but if the water temperature is varying above the set range than it’s probably time to replace the heater.

If the water is colder above the set range you should tune the heater up slowly until the red light indicator on it goes on. Wait for some time and recheck again to make sure the heater is working properly. Adjust the temperature if you find that the water temperature is too cold.
